Welcome to the Burnside Youth Concert Band! We perform entertaining music to audiences across Adelaide. Our band is made up of lots of skilled and developing young musicians with a passion for music and musical performance. We're always recruiting, so if you know of any young players of woodwind, brass, or percussion, send them our way!

The Burnside Youth Concert Band was formed by Stuart Jones in 2003. Since then, the band has been active in the community, presenting a series of concerts in the Burnside Ballroom and playing at community events.

The current conductor is John Lee, who has led the band for 4 years. John was previously a performing member of the band for 10 years, playing trumpet, French Horn, and euphonium. He has also conducted and performed with many community bands in Adelaide, and has a strong passion for local concert musicianship.

The band currently has 25 members ranging from upper primary to young adult, with varying abilities. Instrumentation includes woodwind, brass, and percussion. We also welcome electric bass & double bass players.

Our members generally have at least two-three years of playing experience and strong sight reading skills. Most members are also active in school bands, studying with private teachers and working their way through the AMEB practical exams.

Repertoire encompasses a diverse mix of musical styles inclusive of original concert band music, movie and TV themes, arrangements of classical works, Broadway show tunes and jazz. The emphasis is on a high standard of musical performance in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

Burnside Youth Concert Band is always seeking new members, and we welcome any young musicians who would like to experience playing and performing with a like-minded group of other young players.
